Best cheesecake in Jeddah? How to tell a great one before you order

By Maha Jehad · Updated 8 November 2026 · 5 min read

The short answer

A great cheesecake is made fresh for your order, with a smooth, creamy filling, a crisp base and balanced sweetness, and it arrives chilled with its made-on date on the box. Before ordering in Jeddah, make sure the size, servings and full price are clear before you pay.

Taste is personal, and no single cheesecake pleases everyone. But there are clear signs that separate a great cheesecake from an ordinary one, and you can check them before you order from any bakery in Jeddah, and again when it arrives.

Eight signs of a great cheesecake

1. Made for your order, not from a shelf

Cheesecake is a fresh cream-cheese dessert and it's at its best in its first days. Ask whether it's made for your delivery time or has been sitting in a fridge. A bakery that bakes to order tells you the earliest time it can make yours.

2. A creamy filling from real cream cheese

A great filling is smooth and set, melting in the mouth without being rubbery or runny, and you can taste the cheese under the sweetness. If it feels like whipped cream or has a grainy texture, something is off.

3. A crisp base that holds

The base carries the slice. If it crumbles at the first cut or turns soggy, the slice falls apart. A good base is toasted with butter until crisp and stays firm to the last bite.

4. Balanced sweetness

You shouldn't need a glass of water after two bites. Sweetness comes from the topping and base, balanced by the tang of the cheese. At a party, the guest who goes back for a second slice is a happy guest.

5. Chilled delivery, on time

In Jeddah's heat, the trip from kitchen to door matters. Cheesecake should travel in chilled packaging and arrive at the time you chose, not “some time today”. For same-day orders, you should see the exact time before paying.

6. Sizes and price clear before you pay

Before paying you should know the size, how many it serves and the full price including delivery. If you have to ask everything over messages, or a new fee appears at the last step, expect the rest to go the same way.

7. Dates and ingredients on the label

The box should show the made and best-before dates, how to store it and the allergens. That tells you when to serve it, how long it keeps, and whether it suits a guest with an allergy.

8. Reviews from real customers

Advertising photos all look good. Look for photos and comments from people who actually ordered, and what they say about taste, delivery and how problems were handled. Better still: a friend who tried it.

From Maha's kitchen

The easiest test I tell friends: taste the filling on its own, without the topping. If the cheese tastes smooth and clean, the rest is usually right. The topping decorates; the filling is the cheesecake.

How to test it at home

  1. Check the label as soon as it arrives: made and best-before dates.
  2. Refrigerate it straight away; take it out 15 minutes before serving.
  3. Cut a slice: the edges should be clean and the filling set, not runny or crumbly.
  4. Taste the filling alone, then the base: crisp or soft?
  5. Try another slice the next day: if texture and taste hold, it was made and stored well.

Styles you'll find in Jeddah

  • Lotus Biscoff: a Biscoff biscuit base, cream-cheese filling and Lotus spread on top; caramel and cinnamon notes most people know.
  • Baked or New York: dense and rich, baked low and slow, with a clear cheese flavour.
  • San Sebastián (Basque): baked hot until the top caramelises, creamy inside, usually no base.
  • Madrid: a name used in Saudi for a soft, creamy style that varies from shop to shop.
  • Japanese: light and spongy, close to a cake, and less sweet.

Why we only make Lotus

At MahaCheese we chose one recipe: a three-layer Lotus Biscoff cheesecake with a butter-toasted Biscoff base, full-fat cream cheese whipped low and slow, and the topping you choose. Each cake is made for its order in our Jeddah home kitchen and delivered chilled, with dates and allergens on the label.

We won't call it the best cheesecake in Jeddah; that's for you to decide once you've tasted it. What we can say is that this is what we do, and the signs above are what we work to. Same-day orders are welcome when slots are free, and you see the size, price and delivery fee before paying.

Try it for yourself: pick a size and topping.
